More lawsuits filed against the Sault Tribe

This election, members must vote responsibly

Sault Tribe members should be outraged with current Sault Tribe board members for the recent Greektown law suits filed. As you know as part of the bankruptcy, we get nothing from Greektown not even protection!

The current Sault Tribe board is responsible for getting us into this mess.  The tribe has many large hurdles to over come before we can even begin to repair the damage.  The following  PDF legal documents have been filed.  Both name the Sault Tribe:

Sault Tribe named in law suit to recover over $175 Million dollars through US Bankruptcy Court by Unsecured Greektown Creditors for “Fraudulent Transfers”

Greektown names Sault Tribe in lawsuit to recover over $6 Million and seeks to disallow all claims by the tribe through US Bankruptcy Court citing “Fraudulent Transfers”

Candidates like DJ Hoffman are so desperate to have you vote for them this election cycle they are proposing we build a water park near the Sault Ste. Marie Kewadin Casino....say what?  We are loosing Greektown, we face a hurdle of lawsuits and more to come....and Hoffman wants to build a water park?  Are you kidding me?

More important issues need to be discussed like where is all of this money coming from to restore membership services and our elder fund?  Hoffman believes this election cycle the Sault Tribe membership will buy more of his fried bologna.  It taste good, but sure makes for a lot of hot air.  Please help me prove him wrong. DO NOT VOTE FOR HOFFMAN.

It would be absurd if any of our tribal members reelected those who are responsible for the current and near future state of our tribe. Members should not vote for incumbents like D.J. Hoffman in Unit 1 who is partially responsible for this mess. Please vote responsibly.

  1. Did Bousour not get us in this mess in the first place?? With his deals with the greeks? I say we clean house and put them all to the curb the sooner the better. I can not understand why the membership would put these people back on the board.

  2. Looks like all want to get rich off our elders..but no one has made the move to give the elders the money they deserve and they die poor as others steal it..All should be ashamed

  3. God will get you theives for this. You can gain all the riches in the world, but lose your soul! Our elders are watching you. Every time it rains it is their tears. Don't you forget it because when you stand in front of Our creator He will ask "why'? If you can't give a good reason- woe be to you. This world is only your temporary home!!!

  4. Hello
Any time there is a mail in Ballot that leaves it up to the Board to fix the elections. And go on and on with there stealing..
Members showed file a class action suite against all the board members, since they are the thiefts, who have turned this Tribe into a living mess with all there personal GREED!!!!

  5. Since we have had this new chairman it has been all downhill. When we had a leader that wanted to raise the checks to elders and then all of a sudden our checks were reduced by $1,000 instead of $200 increase and I have asked many times what happened and no b0dy wants to talk about it??? The elder part on the internet still says we are to receive $1600 checks but only get $600 WHO IS GETTING ALL THE REST THAT WE ARE BEING RIPPED OFF OF????

  6. I can never understand how members can elect people who have already stold from them or commited a crime. If you want our tribe to florish you have to get involved. Don't leave it up to someone else to do it for you. YOU MATTER and can make a difference. Vote these people out and try starting over. Keep track of what they say and make them live and own up to it. God help those who helps themselves............

  7. Do not vote for Deb Pine. She will vote to stop the Tribe's $2.66 million CIVIL LAWSUIT against former chairman Bernard Bouschor and his co-horts

  8. That's right......let's spend 4,000,000 to get back 2.6 million. Lana Causley said that was all that could be recovered in an open meeting of the board. WE ARE STILL OUT 2,000,000 MILLION DOLLARS!!! MONEY WE WILL NOT GET BACK!!! Meanwhile our services are in the toilet and the employees go without!

We have a 145,000,000 lawsuit against us now!!
We lost our biggest asset, a 500 million dollar casino WHICH IS MAKING MONEY BUT NOT FOR US!!!!

Deb Pine is the least of our worries......if anything, any new board members will be nothing but a CLEAN UP CREW!!!! I feel sorry for them people, her or DJ Malloy.......they might as well hand out a mop and bucket at the swearing in ceremony!!

  9. Stand up be counted, and as members start to take contol of the tribal business. If you want better contol of the mail in ballots? Then send them back as registered mail.
Them maybe we can have some kind of hope for this election? Talk to friends and neighbors who should we vote for????

  10. Accountabilty is most important. If the tribal government ignores theft rather then prosecute it is not a government that can be trusted. The failure to hold people accountable breeds corruption. Lana, if she said that, was wrong.

The only way to clean up the tribal government is pass a real constitution that is not only fair and just but holds elected officials respondsible for their actions.

  11. Lana Causley is a huge part of the problem. Her and John Causley ripped off the government and the Mackinac Bands for more than 3/4 of a million so why anyone would think she will do anything different for the Sault tribe is living in la la land.

  12. Hi all you Tribe members,

This is real information that Nathan is presenting to you, so you can read what is really going on down here in Greektown. These Lawsuits are not only financial charges, but they are also Criminal and R.I.C.O. charges can be brought against the debtors, which is the Sault Tribe, R.I.C.O. stands for Racketeering, these criminals stole money and conspired to steal Casino money, and hide it by passing it from one criminal to the other.

So do you understand why the Sault Tribe has such a dirty name amongst the other Indian Tribes and the people here in Detroit.

But it is apparent you don't, or else you wouldn't be voting these criminals back in as your corrupt leaders !

Thank you, and have a wonderful life ! If you don't care you are a part of the problem, and just as much of a criminal, as your B.O.D.

  13. Deb Pine will be a major backward step for the tribe if she gets elected. She is all about the core family power hold, and is a cousin to Bernard. She has already stated that we should be thanking him, not sueing him. She wants a return to the 'good old days'. Well in those days her family was getting prefential treatment for everything from housing, to commods, to jobs. Plus, she just does not seem to be very bright. We need people who are independant and clear thinkers.

  14. Greektown Casino, and the Sault Tribe are facing serious civil suits, for a large amount of dollars, but no state or federal agency has filed criminal charges. The civil litigation is bad enough, lets not get carried away.

  15. My main question is with all the decisions they are making who has an education or degree in any of these financial/legal fields to make such huge decisions? Maybe our board members should be more qualified to run an entire tribe and its community and businesses!!! I understand you only have to be a member of our tribe but hello people its obvious UNEDUCATED people making UNEDUCATED decisions..= FAILURE

    ReplyDelete
  16. Actually we do have educated people on the board. The problem isn't just education. It's people who are honest and know when to ask for help when they need it. Here is another thought:

"In an earlier Indian Country Today article I pondered whether, because of the way many tribal governing systems are designed, we are setting our elected tribal leadership up for failure, regardless of how well-qualified they are. We simultaneously expect them to be (1) national leaders who handle external relations with federal and state governments; (2) local leaders who handle critical internal tribal affairs; (3) business leaders who make important decisions affecting tribal income-generating enterprises; and (4) trustees who are charged with ensuring the protection and preservation of the tribe’s assets for generations to come. With all these responsibilities dumped on our elected leaders at once, is it any wonder why our reservation economies and communities struggle to thrive. … or even survive?"

  17. Well then Nathan we need sub commities to take care of certain business and well educated one's at that. But I have sat back and watched this system go so far down hill it's no wounder were broke!

Maybe we need more that just board member and maybe it's time we make that the pro quo, I too feel it's time for new blood and there should be a term limit . They the board can only run two times and that's it. Do not give them time on the job to learn ways to rip us off. 2 terms and your out period.

I've been in this tribe all my life and that's over 50 years and I have yet to see a penny of help , and yet a few years ago the tribe said due to money issues that they could no longer pay for the midical of the spouces and family of a Indian who was not a member. Can you beleave this , I get nothing and I'm a true Indian and yet other who just live with ones who are members were getting medical paid for and had nothing to do with the Tribe????? Hello !!! Are you kidding me, no wonder I get nothing , This crap it out of control. We need nwe blood and NOW!!!!

  18. Aaron payment and his cronies, DJ Hoffmann, Tom Miller and Kieth Massaway have destroyed what was a great opportunity in Greektown. There was no oversight whatsoever with regards to this project. They relied on the Honigman Miller Law firm to make desisions for them and that is why the tribe is out a lot of $$$$. Sad but true.

  20. Sounds like sour grapes from you Bernard? It wasn’t Payment that gave up the cow to get the milk. That was Bouschor. And for the record Hoffman and Miller were not alone in allowing Greektown to wander in the dark.. IT was a plan laid out by Hoffman, Abramson, Paquin, Causley, and the rest of the crew who planned to removed the oversight by Payment and made Paquin Greektown chair, then Miller when Paquin resigned in the midst of the assault charges levied against him. Then they fired the only person holding the construction companies to budget and again left the Greektown open to more costly delays and overages while leaving the tribe on the hook for a $500K.

Oh those Evergreen contracts! Let’s see, who was it that came up with that? Oh that’s right; Bouschor.

Does it really serve a purpose to find someone to blame at this point? There is enough of it to go around and it isn’t paying the bills.

  21. Every contract was a scam! Who allowed that scam to occur? Who was at the helm of that mess when the contracts were decided during the past 4 years? Im talking about outfitting the hotel. Bernard was gone then. I'm sure the bondholders want to know what happened and who got paid what. The tribe was charged retail+++ for things in the hotel that should have been very inexpensive because of the quantities involved. Sad but true. Sorry for your luck Tom, DJ and Kieth. I hope for the tribe that there will be an investigation. This has been the scamming vehicle for the board. SHHHHHHH.... Its a secret. p.s. I'm not Bernard. lol

  22. Whatever....Payment knew they had a deficit coming in 2004.....he had four years to fix it and THEN DID NOTHING!

Yeah, people believed him and his "WE NEED CHANGE" BULLGARBAGE!!

    Well we all got change!!!

The friggin "CHANGE" in our POCKETS!!

That's what we got and one more thing!!!

The Kewadin Casino Employees are the ones who take it in the rear end!!! We are always the first ones who get cut....we lost everything we worked so hard for and we are the ones that keep this tribe supplied with the funds!!!!

AND WE BELIEVED THAT BULLCRAP FROM PAYMENT!!!

I haven't had a raise in three years and then in an election year we get a .25 cent raise....AND GUESS WHAT!!!

I HEAR IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN ELECTION YEAR BS!!!

WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD IT!!!

ITS JUST LIKE THE CHRISTMAS BONUS WE GOT AND THEN ALL THE PEOPLE I WORKED WITH GOT A LAYOFF IN

    JANUARY!!!!

How about some solid leadership who can make good business decisions so I can keep my friggin job!! HOW BOUT THAT FELLOW INDIANS!!!
