Three of Sault Tribe Guide Choices Win!

Anyone who thinks we didn't have any effect on the 2010 Sault Tribe Elections is wrong.  Together we chose a group of leaders who we believe will help our Tribe.  Three of Sault Tribe Guide Choices won the general election.

Bold denotes winner(s)

Dierdrie J. Malloy (1564) STG
Debra-Ann Pine (1547)

James Kelley (417)

Unit 3 —

  1. I can only say that it is too bad that Doug did not win, inhis voting against Keith Massaway. I sit here in Texas, but with keen interest of the goings on with the tribe. My hope is that we get support now for the new constitution, term limits for the BOD, and reopen or persue the legal suit against the present BOD member B.b. as an elder, I am sure most all of us missed the checks of 1600, especcially since no raise in S>S>, hopefully that can change to! Keith, you heard the message, now take heed!

  4. Hey Texas,
Guess what! The elder checks won't go up any time soon! Too many of the "Boomer" population graduating into retirement. That population will drive the checks down first off. Second, the elders are suppose to be paid only the interest and the interest is at such low returns, not sure what levels that will bring everything down to and lastly, Payment ran us into the financial ground....15 million in the hole in 2008. I live here and I go to the board meetings, we is broke brother! WE IS BROKE!! Oh yeah, and we may have lost our Greektown casino.......no money coming from there! They need to sue the state......heard the state kept giving us Indians the shaft over and over again!!! Membership is the one going to pay for this...elders checks were the first thing to go.

  6. Pine is a HUGE mistake. So sad that the membership had so little information about her. She is very familiar with the tribal bennies to core families though. I believe it was her who got preferential treatment of education funds. After the tribe scaled back funds to help more students they restricted aid to only those students who went to school in Michigan. Out of state students cost the tribe two and three times what it cost for an instate student. Well Pine got the tribe to pay all expenses for her to attend a very very expensive out of state art school. However a relative of hers was on the tribal education committee. Yeah, Pine is a throwback to the old days of cronyism and greed and bennies to just a few.

  7. No real change will occur until the Tribe reforms its Constitution. That should began after Bernard Bouschor's jury trail. That will be the first test of this board's commitment to good government as good governments hold their leaders accountable for their actions.

  8. Well it is obvious that you have chosen to not post any negative or true comments about Pine. Is that because she waves a few feathers and throws on a shawl when she wants to play the culture card ? Does that cover up her drunkeness, immorality, poison tongue, backstabbing and taking advantage of all the tribal bennies that no one else got while her relatives were in power. Do those feathers make it all ok ? Well if that is your thinking than that is a very sad commentary on our Tribe, and not at all in keeping with REAL traditional values. You have a lot to learn.
